The programme will run over the next three to five years. It aims to accelerate the shift to high-value varieties and strengthen Nashik’s position as a global grape export hub.

Nashik: DeHaat has launched a grape cluster development programme in Nashik in partnership with the National Horticulture Board (NHB) to improve India’s position in global fruit markets.

The programme aims to help farmers shift from traditional grape varieties to premium, export-oriented varieties. It will focus on improving quality, traceability and access to global buyers.

Support for Farmers and Export Readiness

Farmers will receive financial assistance of 30% to 50% under NHB guidelines. The support will cover new plantation, drip irrigation, good agricultural practices (GAP), pest management, and post-harvest handling.

The programme will also help farmers connect with organised markets and export channels.

Deputy Director, National Horticulture Board Ravindra Dangi said the initiative is designed to provide end-to-end support across the value chain. He added that it will help farmers adopt better practices and improve market access.

Shift Towards Premium Varieties

Global markets are moving towards licensed, premium grape varieties with better shelf life and consistent quality.

Karen Smit-Lotriet of Bloom Fresh said this shift is changing buyer preferences. She noted that farmers who adopt new varieties early are likely to gain better prices and stronger market access.

DeHaat’s Integrated Model

DeHaat will implement the programme through its “Seeds to Market” platform. This includes advisory services, input supply, aggregation and export linkages.

Chief Digital Officer, DeHaat, Nikhil Toshniwal said the next phase of growth in Nashik’s grape sector will depend on better varieties, strong quality systems and full traceability.

Long-Term Impact

The programme will run over the next three to five years. It aims to accelerate the shift to high-value varieties and strengthen Nashik’s position as a global grape export hub.
