New Delhi, September 27: The second day of World Food India 2025 at Bharat Mandapam marked a major leap toward positioning India as the “global food basket of the future.” The summit, focused on sustainability, technology, investment, and international partnerships, brought together global regulators, industry leaders, startups, and policymakers.
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) announced the signing of 21 MoUs worth over ₹25,000 crore on Day 2, taking the cumulative investment commitments of the first two days to ₹1 lakh crore. High-level government-to-government meetings were also held with counterparts from Russia and Portugal to deepen cooperation in agriculture and food processing.
Day 2 featured participation from partner and focus states—Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Jharkhand, and Bihar—alongside New Zealand, Vietnam, Japan, and Russia as country partners. Thirteen thematic sessions hosted by MoFPI covered topics from the summit’s five focus pillars to emerging segments like pet food, nutraceuticals, specialty foods, plant-based alternatives, and alcoholic beverages. Sessions were also organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ministry of Ayush, APEDA, and the World Bank.
Running in parallel with World Food India were two major international events: the 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit by FSSAI, aimed at harmonizing global food safety standards, and the 24th India International Seafood Show (IISS) by the Seafood Exporters Association of India, highlighting India’s expanding seafood export potential.
The summit called on industry stakeholders to invest in food processing innovations, collaborate in technology transfer, and participate in India’s journey from food security to nutrition security, reinforcing the country’s image as a receptive and investment-ready destination.
