President Murmu Presents SCOPE Eminence Awards; Calls CPSEs Pillars of Prosperity in Vision for Developed India 2047

New Delhi, August 30: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday presented the SCOPE Eminence Awards 2022–23 in New Delhi, lauding Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) for their pivotal role in nation-building and urging them to continue driving India’s transformation into a developed nation by 2047.

Addressing the gathering, the President said the awards celebrate the multifaceted contributions of public sector enterprises, which have consistently balanced economic, social, technological, environmental, and ethical dimensions of growth. She praised SCOPE for recognising excellence in sustainable development, corporate governance, CSR, and innovation — calling it a “holistic approach towards progress and development.”

Since independence, Murmu noted, public sector enterprises have laid the foundation for industrialisation, infrastructure, and balanced regional growth. Over the decades, their evolving role has positioned them as “catalysts of growth and pillars of prosperity.” She highlighted their contributions to national campaigns such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, citing Operation Sindoor’s indigenous Akashteer Air Defence Control and Reporting System as an example of PSU-led innovation in national security.

Murmu stressed that CPSEs will be integral to achieving the national goal of building a developed India by 2047, with their decisions anchored in ethics, nation-building, and social responsibility. “Public enterprises have always risen to meet the challenges faced by the country. Their contribution to self-reliance in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and services is a matter of national pride,” she said.

Instituted by the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), the Eminence Awards honour exemplary performance by PSUs across multiple dimensions of nation-building and corporate responsibility.
