New Delhi, August 16: In a major step to enhance travel convenience on national highways, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out the FASTag Annual Pass across 1,150 toll plazas from Independence Day, August 15.

The scheme has seen a strong uptake on its first day, with 1.4 lakh users purchasing and activating annual passes by 7 PM, and 1.39 lakh toll transactions already recorded. At any given moment, between 20,000–25,000 concurrent users were active on the Rajmargyatra App, which facilitates purchase and activation of the pass. Users also receive SMS confirmations for zero toll deductions.

The FASTag Annual Pass offers one year of seamless travel or 200 toll crossings for a one-time payment of ₹3,000. Applicable to all non-commercial vehicles with valid FASTags, the pass is activated within two hours of purchase via the Rajmargyatra App or NHAI website.

NHAI has deployed nodal officers at toll plazas to assist users, while the 1033 National Highway Helpline has been reinforced with over 100 additional executives to handle queries and grievances.

With FASTag penetration already at 98% and over 8 crore users, the new annual pass is expected to further revolutionize electronic toll collection, making highway travel more economical, efficient, and hassle-free.
