New DELHI: Prasar Bharati on Friday launched Creator’s Corner, a new digital-first programme on DD News aimed at providing a national broadcast platform to independent content creators from across India.

The initiative marks the beginning of a broader reform process within the public broadcaster, with a focus on industry participation, new-generation creators and technology-led workflows.

Addressing the launch, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said 2026 would be the year of major reforms for Prasar Bharati, alongside a complete restructuring of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He said institutions such as Doordarshan and All India Radio would be reoriented to align with the evolving media ecosystem.

Vaishnaw described Creator’s Corner as the first step in this transformation. Referring to the WAVES platform launched last year, he said it had emerged as a game changer for the creator economy, with the potential to empower one crore youth, generate new employment and create economic activity worth nearly Rs 5,000 crore.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan said the initiative reflected the Prime Minister’s vision for the Orange Economy. He noted that creators from small towns and remote regions were independently producing and distributing content, building livelihoods without large studios. Doordarshan, he said, would now offer these creators a credible national and global platform.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju said the programme would help build a vibrant, inclusive and responsible creator ecosystem by recognising creators as complete content makers. He added that while Creator’s Corner is launching on DD News, it will be expanded across other Doordarshan channels, covering multiple languages, regions and genres. A dedicated prime-time slot, he said, would help creators reach wider audiences while enriching public broadcasting.

Creator’s Corner is designed as a partnership between Prasar Bharati and individual digital creators to promote quality content and strengthen the digital economy. The programme will feature short-form videos on news and current affairs, culture, travel, cuisine, art and literature, music and dance, health, education, science and technology, environment, inspiring stories and entertainment.

The show will be telecast Monday to Friday at 7:00 pm on DD News, with a repeat broadcast at 9:30 am the following day. Each episode will feature four to six reels or short videos.

Content creators interested in participating can submit their work to ddnews.creatorscorner[at]gmail[dot]com or contact +91-8130555806.
