Mumbai, November 20: Workday has unveiled a major expansion of its open ecosystem with the launch of a global developer network and a new partnership with Google BigQuery, strengthening its position as an enterprise AI platform for HR, finance and intelligent agents.

Announced at Workday Rising EMEA, the global developer network gives learners worldwide access to Workday AI tools, training modules and Workday Build — enabling developers to learn, certify and apply new AI skills. Universities including Chennai Institute of Technology and KL University, along with talent partners such as Consultnet, Helios Consulting and Randstad Digital, will offer structured training paths. Developers completing the programme will earn a Workday Pro Developer Certification and be featured in the Workday Talent Directory for direct engagement with employers.

Workday president of product and technology Gerrit Kazmaier said the expanded ecosystem will “meaningfully open what’s possible” for customers. “When more people can access Workday’s trusted data, tools and AI, organisations can move faster, unlock new insights and drive real business results,” he said.

Helios Consulting CEO Trevor Lee added that the developer network will transform how skilled AI talent is matched with enterprise demand, supported by apprenticeship programmes such as Horizons.

Workday also announced that Google BigQuery has joined the Workday Data Cloud ecosystem, providing customers secure, zero-copy access to trusted HR and finance data inside BigQuery and BigLake. The partnership will allow users to build AI-driven predictive models — including cash-flow forecasting or churn risk — without duplicating sensitive data. Insights generated in Google Cloud can also be pushed back into Workday to support decision-making.

Google Cloud VP and GM of Data Cloud Andi Gutmans said combining Workday’s structured HR and finance datasets with Google Cloud’s Gemini models will enable “faster, more flexible access to critical business data” and support the creation of intelligent agents for real-time operational decisions.

Workday’s ecosystem push also includes its planned acquisition of Pipedream, a leading integration platform with more than 3,000 pre-built connectors. Together with recent Sana and Flowise acquisitions, Pipedream will help Workday deliver an end-to-end AI agent platform capable of connecting securely to external systems such as Asana, HubSpot, Jira, Recurly and Slack. Workday said Pipedream’s developer community and Flowise’s open-source network will accelerate connector creation and fuel continuous innovation across the platform.

With these announcements, Workday aims to broaden access to AI skills, deepen interoperability with enterprise data platforms and scale intelligent agent capabilities across global organisations.
