UIDAI, ISI Ink 5-Year Pact for Advanced R&D to Strengthen Aadhaar Security and Reliability

New Delhi, August 13: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has signed a five-year umbrella agreement with the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) to undertake joint research and development aimed at enhancing the robustness, security, and reliability of Aadhaar operations through data-driven innovations.

The collaboration will focus on key areas including fraud and anomaly detection, biometric liveness detection tools, identification of high-risk enrolment and update categories, improvements in biometric matching algorithms, and other mutually agreed priority domains.

The agreement was formalised by Tanusree Deb Barma, Deputy Director General (Technology Centre) at UIDAI, and Prof BS Daya Sagar, Head of ISI Bengaluru Centre, in the presence of UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar and Puja Singh Mandol, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) in New Delhi on Tuesday.

“Our collaboration with the Indian Statistical Institute is a step towards building advanced, secure, and citizen-centric innovation,” said Kumar. Mandol added that the partnership combines deep expertise in statistics, technology, and data-driven innovation.

The Indian Statistical Institute, under MoSPI, is a premier research and academic institution known for its strength in statistics, mathematics, computer science, and data science, with a track record of high-impact research contributions.
