TCS, C-DAC Sign Landmark MoU to Strengthen India’s Sovereign Cloud Infrastructure
The collaboration aims to deliver scalable, AI-enabled cloud platforms tailored to India’s data localization mandates and the digital transformation of critical public services.
New Delhi/Mumbai, September 12: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to accelerate the development of India’s sovereign cloud ecosystem. The collaboration aims to deliver scalable, AI-enabled cloud platforms tailored to India’s data localization mandates and the digital transformation of critical public services.
Under the partnership, indigenous technologies developed by C-DAC will be integrated into TCS’ sovereign cloud stack, enabling secure hosting of government applications such as e-Sanjeevani, Dial 112, and workloads from central ministries. The collaboration will focus on strengthening compliance, security, and performance for key sectors including healthcare, defence, smart cities, and BFSI.
“This collaboration marks a significant milestone in India’s journey toward technological self-reliance,” said Magesh Ethirajan, Director General of C-DAC. “By combining our innovation expertise with TCS’ industry presence and execution strength, we aim to accelerate the development and long-term sustainability of sovereign cloud platforms.”
Girish Ramachandran, President – Growth Markets, TCS, called the agreement a step forward in realizing India’s sovereign cloud ambitions. “Together, we will deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready cloud platforms tailored to the needs of a digitally empowered India,” he said.
The collaboration also reflects India’s broader strategic intent to reduce reliance on global hyperscalers by building a robust sovereign cloud ecosystem based on OpenStack and indigenous technologies.
TCS, which generated consolidated revenues of $30 billion in FY25, has a long track record of nation-building programs, from transforming passport services to enabling health insurance and pensions for defence personnel. With this MoU, it aims to extend its role in shaping India’s next-generation digital infrastructure.
