Bengaluru/Mumbai, September 17: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has joined hands with Qualcomm Technologies to set up a state-of-the-art co-innovation lab in Bengaluru aimed at advancing Software Defined Everything (SDx) and Edge AI capabilities for global enterprises.

The TCS Innovation Lab, part of the company’s IoT-focused Bringing Life to Things network, will develop scalable, low-cost solutions using Qualcomm’s platforms to help industries deploy intelligent devices capable of real-time decision-making. Equipped with 5G private network infrastructure, the facility will focus on sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, smart infrastructure, and security and surveillance.

“Our collaboration with TCS marks an important step in bringing practical, real-time Edge AI solutions to industries that are rapidly evolving,” said Savi Soin, Senior Vice President and President, Qualcomm India. “The Bengaluru lab will be a space where advanced AI and connectivity meet real-world challenges.”

V Rajanna, Business Group Head, Technology, Software and Services, TCS, said the lab will accelerate the development of next-generation solutions ranging from intelligent medical devices and smart industrial handhelds to advanced surveillance systems. He emphasised that the initiative reflects TCS’ continued commitment to investing in innovation to unlock agility, efficiency, and long-term business value.

The demand for compact, energy-efficient, and self-healing intelligent devices is driving enterprises to explore new approaches to automation and resilience. TCS will leverage its SDx expertise, combined with Qualcomm’s Edge AI-enabled systems-on-chips, to connect physical and digital environments seamlessly.

A recent collaboration between the two companies for an automotive manufacturer demonstrated real-world potential. Using Qualcomm’s on-premise Edge AI devices, TCS developed a smart anomaly detection system capable of spotting minute defects on steel and painted surfaces with 90% real-time accuracy—a breakthrough for industrial and aerial inspections.

“This engagement strengthens our long-standing relationship with Qualcomm Technologies and reinforces our vision of building an intelligent, connected future,” said Regu Ayyaswamy, Global Head of IoT & Digital Engineering at TCS.

By fusing AI, automation, and software-driven innovation, the co-innovation lab is expected to create a pipeline of adaptive, scalable, and sustainable solutions, positioning India as a hub for next-generation digital transformation.
