SBI General rolls out 30 specialised health insurance branches across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

Hyderabad | August 9: SBI General Insurance on Saturday announced the launch of 30 specialised health-insurance branches across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with plans to extend the model nationwide, aiming to deepen coverage in underserved markets.
The branches will offer a fully digital onboarding journey and access to a network of more than 2,100 hospitals in the two states, with an average cashless response time of about 30 minutes, the company said.
Locations span key population centres in both states — including Bhuvanagiri, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahabubnagar and Sangareddy in Telangana, and Anantapur, Kadapa, Kakinada, Nellore and Tenali in Andhra Pradesh — to take services closer to first-time and under-insured consumers.
Product offerings at these outlets include Arogya Supreme, Super Health Insurance, SBIG Health Super Top-Up, Arogya Sanjeevani and Personal Accident Insurance, tailored to local needs, SBI General said.
At the Hyderabad launch, SBI Group chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty said the expansion aligns with the sector’s push towards “insurance for all by 2047,” leveraging SBI’s reach to improve access and security through financial services. SBI General MD & CEO Naveen Chandra Jha said the addition of these branches gives the insurer one of the largest footprints in the two states, covering 40 districts, and reflects a commitment to bring services “closer to customers” with solutions tuned to their requirements.
The initiative is part of a wider strategy to lift insurance penetration in semi-urban and rural geographies through localised, relevant service delivery, it added.
Founded in 2009, SBI General has expanded from 17 branches in 2011 to over 145 nationwide and reported a gross written premium of ₹14,140 crore in FY 2024-25, up 11.1% year-on-year, according to company information.
