Bengaluru, August 6: In a landmark boost to India’s digital and innovation ecosystem, SAP Labs India inaugurated its sprawling Innovation Park at Devanahalli, Bengaluru, on Tuesday. The new facility, spread over 41 acres near Kempegowda International Airport, is set to become SAP’s most advanced and sustainable global campus, eventually housing over 15,000 high-value jobs in AI, product engineering, and customer services.

Speaking at the inauguration, Union Minister for Electronics & IT, Railways, and Information & Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw hailed the new SAP campus as a “timely investment in India’s growth story,” aligned with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’. He said the facility underscores global confidence in India’s talent pool and positions the country as a trusted technology partner.

“From being the 11th largest economy to on track to becoming the 3rd largest, India’s transformation has been guided by visionary leadership. Electronics exports have grown 8-fold in the past 11 years,” the minister noted.

He highlighted technological strides in railways and semiconductors, including India’s upcoming first homegrown semiconductor chip and the acceleration milestones of Vande Bharat trains.

Vaishnaw also revealed that 34,000 GPUs are now available to students, researchers, and college startups through a public-private partnership, democratizing compute power at scale.

Strategic MoU with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya

In a major academia-industry linkage, SAP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) during the event. The MoU aims to digitally skill India’s logistics and transport workforce under the Skill India and Digital India missions.

The partnership focuses on:

  • Employment enablement of GSV-trained graduates with industry-relevant digital skills
  • Curriculum enhancement and capacity building for students and government professionals
  • Research, development, and job creation to bolster national logistics capabilities

By integrating SAP’s digital logistics tools into the university curriculum, the initiative aims to produce a future-ready, tech-savvy workforce in the logistics domain.

Global-Scale Innovation Hub

The SAP Innovation Park will feature:

  • Customer Experience Center
  • Hybrid collaboration zones
  • AI labs
  • Startup incubation hubs
  • Hackathon spaces

The facility will anchor Joule’s agentic AI capabilities and serve as a key R&D hub for SAP across the Asia-Pacific region.

The inauguration was attended by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge, German Ambassador to India Dr. Philipp Ackermann and Head of SAP Labs Network Clas Neumann.

The SAP Innovation Park stands as a testament to India’s rising prominence in global tech, AI leadership, and digital infrastructure development, MeitY said in a statement.
