ROQIT partners with Indian Railways to build India’s first AI-driven, door-to-door parcel logistics network
The pilot will begin with South Central Railway in early 2026, marking the first step toward a nationwide rollout.
Hyderabad, November 19: Indian Railways has awarded a contract to ROQIT, an AION-Tech Solutions company, to design and deploy an AI-powered parcel logistics platform that aims to modernise lightweight and medium-weight parcel delivery across the country. The pilot will begin with South Central Railway in early 2026, marking the first step toward a nationwide rollout.
The collaboration seeks to unlock the Railways’ underutilised parcel capacity — currently less than 1% of total traffic — by creating a fully digital, customer-centric and sustainable small-parcel ecosystem. Despite being the world’s fourth-largest rail network, Indian Railways handles far fewer small parcels compared to developed markets, largely due to manual booking processes, limited transparency and unreliable last-mile delivery.
ROQIT CEO Pavan Chavali said the initiative blends the scale of rail with intelligent zero-emission mobility solutions. The company will leverage its EV fleet subsidiary, ETO Motors, to power first- and last-mile pickup and delivery, creating an integrated green logistics chain aligned with India’s net-zero goals.
Under the project, ROQIT is building a cloud-native mobile app that will enable predictive scheduling, instant booking, digital payments, real-time parcel tracking and a marketplace to choose logistics partners based on cost, speed or sustainability. The platform’s AI engine will replace paper-based processes and enhance transparency across the delivery cycle.
The pilot rollout is planned for January–February 2026 across selected locations, followed by a phased expansion nationwide. With EV-first logistics at its core, the solution aims to minimise carbon emissions by relying on rail transport and electric mobility for feeder services.
The platform introduces several capabilities absent in traditional parcel systems, including end-to-end digital tracking, paperless transactions and door-to-door service. Its open marketplace model is expected to give logistics operators greater flexibility and access to India’s growing rail-linked parcel ecosystem.
AION-Tech Solutions, ROQIT’s parent company, specialises in data analytics and sustainable solution development. ROQIT Greenfleet Digital Solutions, its fleet-tech subsidiary, provides AI-powered tools for real-time tracking, predictive maintenance and EV-specific analytics to help businesses enhance efficiency while reducing carbon impact.
Officials said the partnership represents a major leap toward a smart, inclusive and sustainable logistics framework that combines the Railways’ low-emission network with advanced digital intelligence.
