Hyderabad, August 27: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TCSB) has drawn national attention for its strong performance in tackling cybercrime, earning praise from a Parliamentary Standing Committee that reviewed the country’s preparedness against digital threats.
In its latest report to Parliament on “Cyber Crimes – Trends, Safeguards and Regulation”, the committee chaired by BJP MP Radha Mohandas Agarwal applauded Telangana—alongside Maharashtra and Kerala—for implementing innovative measures to protect citizens from online frauds and other digital crimes. The panel said these state-level best practices deserve to be replicated nationwide to bolster India’s cybercrime defence mechanisms.
Since being established in April 2024, the TCSB has made notable progress, registering 472 cases, arresting 160 offenders, and preventing frauds worth nearly ₹283 crore. The bureau has also identified over 800 suspects linked to online crimes. Officials told the committee that a mix of rapid response protocols and public awareness campaigns has been central to building a safer online environment in Telangana.
The report recommended that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) extend greater support and encourage the adoption of successful models like Telangana’s across other states. With enhanced coordination and resource-sharing, the committee said India can strengthen its cyber resilience against increasingly sophisticated threats.
For Telangana, the national recognition comes as an endorsement of its ambition to position itself as a frontrunner in cyber safety and digital public security.
