New Delhi, September 13: The Indian Navy commissioned its latest naval base, INS Aravali, at Gurugram on Friday in the presence of Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi. The ceremony marked the unveiling of a new hub designed to provide robust administrative and logistical support for the Navy’s expanding operations.

The commissioning ceremony featured a 50-men Guard of Honour for the Chief of the Naval Staff. Captain Sachin Kumar Singh, the first Commanding Officer of the unit, recited the Sanskrit invocation and read the commissioning warrant. Following the unveiling of the commissioning plaque by Shashi Tripathi, President NWWA, the Naval Ensign was hoisted to the National Anthem, with the commissioning pennant broken on the mast.

In his address, Admiral Tripathi described INS Aravali as a “hub of technology and collaboration,” aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions). He said the new base would enhance India’s role as the “Preferred Security Partner in the Indian Ocean Region.”

Named after the enduring Aravali mountain range, the base will support key information and communication centres vital to the Navy’s Command, Control and Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) framework. Guided by the motto ‘सामुद्रिकसुरक्षायाः सहयोगं’ or ‘Maritime Security through Collaboration’, INS Aravali will integrate seamlessly with naval units, MDA centres and allied stakeholders.

The base’s crest, featuring mountain imagery and a rising sun, symbolizes vigilance, resilience, and the dawn of advanced technological capabilities in communications and maritime security.
