New Delhi, August 26: The Prime Minister of Fiji, Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka, on Tuesday visited the headquarters of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in New Delhi, where he was given a detailed demonstration of India’s flagship digital identity systems — Aadhaar and DigiLocker.

Rabuka, accompanied by a high-level delegation, was received by UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar along with senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Electronics and IT.

Demonstration of Aadhaar and DigiLocker

Deputy Director General of UIDAI Vivek Chandra Verma and NeGD President and CEO Nand Kumarum made presentations explaining how Aadhaar and DigiLocker form the foundational layers of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). They highlighted their role in empowering residents through inclusive digital governance, ensuring service delivery at massive scale across sectors.

The delegation also witnessed a live demonstration of the Aadhaar enrolment process, experiencing first-hand the ease, efficiency, and security of India’s digital ID ecosystem.

Strengthening Digital Cooperation

Officials said the visit underscores the growing collaboration between India and Fiji in digital transformation, with a focus on co-developing innovative governance solutions. India has increasingly positioned its DPI — including Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and UPI — as global public goods, sharing expertise with countries seeking scalable, secure, and inclusive digital systems.

The visit not only showcased India’s achievements in building one of the world’s largest digital identity frameworks but also reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with global allies in leveraging technology for citizen empowerment and inclusive development.
