Noida, September 21: The Data Security Council of India (DSCI), in collaboration with Siemens Limited, on Friday inaugurated an Operational Technology (OT) Cyber Security Lab at the Nasscom Campus, Noida. Senior representatives from the Ministry of Electronics & IT, CERT-In, and NITI Aayog attended the launch, marking a significant step towards fortifying India’s cybersecurity posture in critical infrastructure environments.

The state-of-the-art lab is designed as a national resource hub, enabling industry and startups to validate, test, and refine their cybersecurity solutions in real-world OT scenarios. It will also function as a platform for training, awareness, and skill development, offering hands-on exposure for professionals across critical sectors.

Equipped with advanced testbeds, the facility will support research into OT security vulnerabilities, defense-in-depth strategies, threat detection, and risk management. The insights generated will be shared with stakeholders to strengthen mitigation strategies and bolster India’s resilience against evolving cyber threats.

Speaking at the inauguration, KK Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT, stressed the strategic importance of OT security:

“Critical infrastructure security is the need of the hour to strengthen national security. This lab will enable startups, researchers, and industry professionals to innovate and develop better solutions for a more resilient OT ecosystem.”

Vinayak Godse, CEO, DSCI, highlighted the lab’s role in extending the capabilities of the National Centre of Excellence, a joint initiative between MeitY and DSCI:

“The lab will act as a collaborative platform for government, academia, and industry, supporting innovation, validation, and preparedness against cyber threats to critical infrastructure.”

Suprakash Chaudhuri, Head of Digital Industries, Siemens Limited, underscored the urgency of evolving cybersecurity alongside digital transformation:

“As IT and OT converge, vulnerabilities multiply. The OT Cyber Security Lab is a strategic step toward empowering industries to secure manufacturing, grid, and urban infrastructure with robust, scalable solutions.”

The facility is expected to serve as a catalyst for innovation, particularly benefiting startups and enterprises focused on securing India’s manufacturing, grid, and industrial ecosystems in an increasingly digital world.
