NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Home Affairs has invited public and stakeholder feedback on the architecture of a proposed nationwide broadband communications network for police, disaster response, fire, medical and other public safety agencies.

The consultation, announced by the ministry on October 23, seeks inputs to help design the reference architecture for the Broadband Public Protection and Disaster Relief (BB-PPDR) system.

The proposed dedicated network would provide mission-critical push-to-talk, data and video capabilities to state and Union Territory police, Central Armed Police Forces, the National Disaster Response Force and other emergency services.

Stakeholders can suggest design options and technologies, examining their relative advantages, limitations, cost efficiency and suitability for Indian conditions.

The concept note is available on the Home Ministry website under “Documents—Orders and Circulars” and on the Directorate of Coordination Police Wireless website under stakeholder consultations, announcements and “What’s New”.

Comments must reach dd-ppdr@dcpw.gov.in and ad.ppdr@dcpw.gov.in by November 5, 2026, with the subject line “BB-PPDR Architecture — Stakeholder Feedback”.
