HANAMKONDA: A new legal empowerment initiative aimed at improving access to justice and strengthening public grievance redressal was launched in Telangana on Monday with the inauguration of Project P.R.A.N. (Public Redressal Associated Network), a citizen-centric platform designed to connect people with legal aid institutions and government support systems.
The project, developed by GKNECT in association with GK NAAM Educational and Charitable Trust, New Delhi, was inaugurated by Manthri Ramakrishna Sunitha, Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Hanamkonda, along with G. Ramalingam, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority and Senior Civil Judge.
Established under the aegis of Legal Aid with ROC No. 5979/TSLSA/2023, Project P.R.A.N. seeks to provide timely legal assistance and grievance redressal services, particularly for women, children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. GKNECT is a registered civil society organisation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), a permanent partner of the United Nations Public Administration Network (UNPAN), and is registered with the United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM).
The initiative introduces a structured six-stage grievance redressal process covering complaint registration, preliminary assessment, referral to competent authorities, legal counselling, mediation and continuous follow-up until resolution. The platform is intended to bridge the gap between citizens and legal institutions while facilitating access to welfare schemes and public services.
Project P.R.A.N. is associated with Dr. Supriya Ratna Kumar Goudiperu, Major General, South Asia Commander, International Police Commission (Global Command), Department of Peacekeeping Operations. Its Legal Advisory Board includes retired NIA Special Judge and former Telangana Judges Association President Kuthuru Ravinder Reddy, retired District Judge and advocate Sattaru Rajani, and Supreme Court advocate Syed Rizwan.
The programme also focuses on promoting disability rights by facilitating access to rehabilitation services, education, skill development and government welfare programmes. For women and children, the initiative aims to strengthen awareness of legal rights, protection against violence and discrimination, counselling services and institutional support through the legal aid framework.
As part of its outreach activities, GKNECT, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Hanamkonda, plans to organise legal literacy programmes, public awareness campaigns, stakeholder consultations, workshops and community engagement initiatives to educate citizens on constitutional rights, consumer protection laws and available legal remedies.
Through partnerships with legal professionals, government departments, educational institutions, civil society organisations, volunteers and community leaders, Project P.R.A.N. aims to build a robust legal support ecosystem that promotes access to justice, peaceful dispute resolution and inclusive social development across the region.
