Thermo Fisher Opens Bioprocess Design and Customer Experience Centers in Hyderabad to Strengthen India’s Life Sciences Ecosystem
The Bioprocess Design Center, developed in partnership with the Government of Telangana and supported by the Department of Biotechnology under the Biotech Park Project, will function as a technology scale-up facility.
Hyderabad, November 25: Thermo Fisher Scientific on Monday inaugurated two major facilities in Hyderabad’s Genome Valley — the Bioprocess Design Center and the Customer Experience Center — aimed at accelerating research, innovation and skill development across India’s growing life sciences and bioprocessing sectors.
The Bioprocess Design Center, developed in partnership with the Government of Telangana and supported by the Department of Biotechnology under the Biotech Park Project, will function as a technology scale-up facility. The Customer Experience Center has been designed as a collaborative hub offering hands-on training, co-development opportunities and demonstrations of more than 50 integrated workflows across over 20 applications, including cell and gene therapy, mRNA, oncology, proteomics and analytical sciences. Both facilities feature Thermo Fisher’s latest technologies for advanced therapeutic development.
Together, the two centers are expected to support 200 to 250 researchers and scientists every year by providing access to cutting-edge instrumentation, training programmes and industry collaboration platforms. The facilities align with the Telangana Life Sciences Mission, which aims to position the state as a global leader in biotechnology, biopharma and research-driven innovation.
Speaking at the inauguration, Telangana Minister for IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu said the state’s life sciences sector is on a strong growth trajectory and partnerships like this will help achieve the target of ₹1 lakh crore in life sciences investments by 2030. He noted that Thermo Fisher’s expanded presence would create new avenues for collaboration, skill-building and global technology adoption.
The Bioprocess Design Center complements the Customer Experience Center with bench-to-pilot scale capabilities for biologics and vaccine manufacturing, enabling rapid prototyping, process optimisation and scale-up using single-use systems. It also houses specialised laboratories for cell culture, microbial fermentation, purification and analytical testing.
Tony Acciarito, president for Asia Pacific and Middle East, Africa at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said India’s life sciences industry is at an inflection point and that the company’s new facilities reinforce its commitment to helping researchers and industry move “from ideas to impact faster.”
Srinath Venkatesh, managing director for India and South Asia, said the investments reflect Thermo Fisher’s vision to support an integrated innovation ecosystem that strengthens India’s global leadership in biopharma and life sciences.
Thermo Fisher has invested ₹85–90 crore in establishing the two centers, building on its expanding presence and long-term commitment to the Indian market, the company said in a statement.
