Hyderabad, September 11: U.S.-based insurance major The Hartford has announced the launch of its new technology center in Hyderabad, marking a major step in its global technology transformation and innovation agenda. The facility will serve as a hub for engineering excellence with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital transformation and advanced technology development.

The Hyderabad center will operate in a start-up-like environment, enabling rapid prototyping and experimentation across time zones. It will complement The Hartford’s existing technology hubs in Hartford, Connecticut; Chicago, Illinois; and Charlotte, North Carolina.

“This is an exciting time at The Hartford as we accelerate our use of AI as the foundation of innovation in our products and processes,” said Shekar Pannala, Chief Information Officer, The Hartford. Chief Data, AI and Operations Officer Jeff Hawkins added that the company is advancing its digital, data analytics and AI capabilities “to create customized, fast, reliable and more meaningful customer experiences.”

Global consulting major Capgemini has been engaged to support seamless setup and operational excellence from the start. Hyderabad was chosen for its mature infrastructure, strategic location and thriving innovation ecosystem. India’s strong talent pool—producing over 1.5 million engineering graduates annually—will be central to The Hartford’s efforts to strengthen its AI and digital capabilities.

The Hartford, a Fortune 200 company with over 19,000 employees worldwide, has been expanding its digital modernization investments for more than a decade. With over 200 years of risk management and underwriting expertise, the insurer is now leveraging AI and analytics to unlock new value in customer services.

The company is actively recruiting top technology talent in India, offering opportunities in AI, data science, cloud architecture and digital engineering.
