Telangana CM Revanth Proposes National AI War Room in Hyderabad with Centre–States Participation
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy delivers the keynote address at the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on Friday.
New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy delivered the keynote address at the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, describing Artificial Intelligence as “mankind’s greatest invention” and a transformational force comparable to the discovery of fire, the invention of the wheel and the Industrial Revolution.
Addressing policymakers, global technology leaders, innovators and industry representatives, Revanth Reddy said the world is witnessing a historic turning point, where AI is not merely enhancing human effort but redefining human capability itself.
Congratulating the Government of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw for organising the summit, Reddy noted that AI represents a fundamental shift that combines intelligence, autonomy and decision-making power.
He observed that earlier technological breakthroughs amplified human physical strength, while AI now challenges intellectual supremacy. When integrated with robotics, he said, AI systems possess both mental and physical capabilities, marking a new phase in technological evolution.
Call for National AI Leadership
Revanth Reddy cautioned that India must not miss the AI revolution as it did the Industrial and Manufacturing Revolutions. While the country built global credibility in services and software, it did not create large-scale global technology products, he said.
He stressed that India must move beyond being a consumer of global platforms to becoming a producer and owner of AI technologies. According to him, leadership must span every layer of the AI ecosystem — from GPU chip manufacturing and green energy-backed data infrastructure to core AI platforms, languages, applications and AI-driven services.
Roadmap for AI Ecosystem
Outlining a comprehensive vision for national AI leadership, the Chief Minister proposed:
- Establishing a National AI War Room with participation from the Centre and States to monitor rapid AI developments.
- Hyderabad’s readiness to host and build such a War Room, subject to Government of India approval.
- Creating a world-class AI University with campuses across India focused on original research and advanced innovation.
- Accelerating domestic GPU chip manufacturing and integrating India into the global AI supply chain, including securing rare minerals.
- Conducting a national assessment of AI-driven job displacement alongside large-scale re-skilling and job creation initiatives.
- Setting up a National AI Fund to support start-ups and promote youth-led AI innovation.
- Establishing an AI Start-up Village in Telangana to serve as a national innovation hub with support from the Centre.
Institutional Framework for AI Governance
The Chief Minister called for the creation of an India AI Council, on the lines of the GST Council or NITI Aayog, to function as an apex body for AI policy coordination across the country.
He also proposed a dedicated AI ministry to frame laws preventing misuse of AI, safeguard national security, and ensure that AI is harnessed for social justice and poverty eradication.
To sustain momentum, he suggested hosting AI summits every six months in different cities to deepen global engagement and accelerate collaborative progress.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister invited global institutions, industry leaders and research organisations to partner with Telangana in advancing AI innovation, governance and inclusive technological growth.
