New Delhi, August 29: Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Friday delivered an impassioned address at ESYA, the tech fest of IIIT-Delhi, urging students to lead India’s transformation into Vishwaguru Bharat.
Tracing India’s legacy as a global knowledge hub, from Aryabhatta’s zero to Nalanda and Takshashila, Scindia said, “That spark still lies within us. The Tech Fest is a launchpad to enact bold dreams, and India’s rise rests on the shoulders of its youth.”
Highlighting India’s growing leadership in frontier technologies, the Minister noted that the Department of Telecommunications’ Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) has already invested in over 120 projects in areas including quantum computing, terahertz communication, bio-nano systems, indigenous chipsets, and encrypted routers. He reiterated India’s ambition to contribute 10% of global 6G patents by 2030, placing responsibility on students to drive the next wave of innovation.
Scindia stressed that technology must be anchored in values, urging youth to design solutions for farmers in precision agriculture, children in digital classrooms, and patients in small towns dependent on tele-health. Calling for a shift from brain drain to “brain gain,” he appealed to students studying abroad to return and contribute to rebuilding India into the “Golden Bird it once was.”
He closed with three guiding mantras for the next generation: “Be Bold, Be Rooted, Build for Bharat.”
