New Delhi, September 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired the 49th meeting of PRAGATI, the ICT-enabled multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, at South Block. The session brought together the Centre and states to review and fast-track major projects, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure time-bound delivery.

The Prime Minister reviewed eight critical infrastructure projects spanning Mines, Railways, Water Resources, Industrial Corridors, and Power sectors. Together, these projects cover 15 States and Union Territories with a cumulative investment exceeding ₹65,000 crore, underscoring their significance as engines of economic growth and public welfare.

During the review, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for strict timelines, inter-agency coordination, and prompt problem-solving. He reiterated that execution delays carry a double cost—escalation of project expenditure and depriving citizens of timely access to essential services.

Urging officials to adopt a result-oriented approach, the Prime Minister said projects must translate into improved quality of life for citizens and facilitate ease of living and ease of doing business. He also called upon States and Union Territories to institutionalize their own monitoring mechanisms for flagship projects to ensure timely implementation and effective resolution of challenges.

The Prime Minister further stressed the importance of reforms at the State and UT level to enhance competitiveness, strengthen efficiency, and foster innovation across sectors. Such preparedness, he noted, would enable India to quickly capitalize on emerging opportunities and drive inclusive growth.
