New Delhi, October 14: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Monday launched the Logistics Excellence, Advancement, and Performance Shield (LEAPS) 2025, a flagship initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, during the commemorative event marking four years of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

The LEAPS 2025 Awards have been instituted to benchmark logistics excellence and recognize outstanding leadership, innovation, and sustainability across the logistics sector. The initiative aims to strengthen India’s logistics competitiveness, reduce logistics costs, and align with the broader goals of the National Logistics Policy (NLP) and PM GatiShakti, supporting the nation’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Speaking at the launch, Piyush Goyal said, “LEAPS 2025 marks another milestone, recognizing the efforts of stakeholders in improving efficiency and effectiveness in logistics nationwide.” He emphasized that the initiative reflects the Modi government’s commitment to building a world-class logistics ecosystem, fostering collaboration between government, industry, and academia, and enhancing India’s participation in global value chains.

LEAPS 2025 seeks to acknowledge and celebrate best practices across logistics players — including air, road, rail, and maritime freight operators; warehouse service providers; multimodal transporters; MSMEs; startups; and academic institutions. It also encourages a focus on sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices, and Green Logistics, supporting the transition toward more efficient and responsible supply chains.

Registrations for LEAPS 2025 are now open on the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal (https://awards.gov.in/Home/Awardpedia), and entries can be submitted until 15th November 2025.

Awards will be presented across 13 categories, covering:

  • Core Logistics: Air, Road, Rail, and Maritime Freight Service Providers; Multimodal Transport Operators; and Warehouse Service Providers (Industrial/Consumables and Agricultural).
  • MSMEs: Logistics Service Providers.
  • Startups: Logistics Technology and Operations Service Providers.
  • Institutions: Educational Institutes Promoting Logistics.
  • Special Categories: e-Commerce Logistics and Multimodal Logistics Service Providers, including 3PLs, Freight Forwarders, and Custom Brokers.

By recognizing pioneering innovations and promoting sustainability-driven best practices, LEAPS 2025 aims to build a future-ready logistics ecosystem that enhances efficiency, transparency, and resilience across India’s logistics value chain. The initiative not only honors individual excellence but also serves as a catalyst for systemic transformation—boosting Make in India, empowering Atmanirbhar Bharat, and propelling India toward global leadership in logistics performance.
