Kalyani Strategic Systems wins ₹250 crore MoD contract to supply advanced underwater systems
The contract win highlights India’s push for self-reliance in naval technologies, particularly in unmanned and sub-surface warfare systems.
Bharat Forge subsidiary strengthens indigenous defence manufacturing with unmanned marine solutions for the Indian Navy
Pune, Nov 11: Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited, has secured contracts worth over ₹250 crore from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the supply of underwater systems to the Indian Navy. The contract, signed on November 10, mandates delivery within a year—by November 2026—under Fast Track Procurement norms.
The new order reinforces KSSL’s growing presence in the unmanned and marine systems segment, an area it has focused on intensively over the past five years. The company has already delivered autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) currently in service with the Navy, marking a key step in the indigenisation of critical underwater technologies.
KSSL said the underwater domain, alongside naval guns and marine equipment, remains a major strategic focus as it ramps up design and production capacities to meet mission-critical defence requirements. “We remain committed to ensuring timely delivery of these advanced solutions,” the company said in a statement.
Strengthening India’s underwater capabilities
The contract win highlights India’s push for self-reliance in naval technologies, particularly in unmanned and sub-surface warfare systems. KSSL’s growing expertise in underwater solutions complements the Navy’s modernization drive aimed at enhancing maritime security and operational readiness.
Over recent years, KSSL has developed in-house design and manufacturing capabilities in unmanned systems, precision artillery, and protected mobility solutions — helping India reduce dependence on imports in key defence categories.
