Indian Naval Academy to Host 14th Admiral’s Cup; 35 Nations Confirm Participation in Gobal Sailing Championship
Reinforcing India’s commitment to maritime cooperation and professional development, Admiral’s Cup 2025 continues to strengthen international naval bonds through the shared values of teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship, an official release said.
Ezhimala, December 8: The Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala is set to host the 14th edition of the prestigious Admiral’s Cup from December 8 to 13, bringing together naval officer trainees from 35 countries—its largest-ever international participation. The global sailing championship, instituted in 2010, has grown into one of the world’s premier naval sporting events, promoting maritime camaraderie and professional cooperation among friendly foreign navies.
The Admiral’s Cup is conducted in the Match Racing format using the ILCA–6 class sailboats, a category known for its demanding mix of tactical decision-making, physical endurance and seamanship. Over the years, the event has emerged as a key platform for future naval leaders to engage in competitive sport while strengthening ties across regions.
Teams participating in this year’s edition span Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania and the Americas, reflecting the increasing international prominence of the championship. Officials said the expanded participation underscores the global maritime community’s confidence in India’s naval training institutions and the event’s professional standards.
The Indian Naval Academy’s modern sailing infrastructure, advanced training facilities and favourable coastal conditions make Ezhimala an ideal location for a competition of this scale. Alongside the races, visiting contingents will experience INA’s traditions, interact with Indian naval trainees, and take part in cultural exchange activities designed to deepen mutual understanding.
The Opening Ceremony on December 9 will mark the formal start of the championship, followed by four days of competitive racing in challenging sea and wind conditions. The event will conclude on December 13 with a Closing Ceremony honouring the top-performing teams and exceptional individual sailors.
Reinforcing India’s commitment to maritime cooperation and professional development, Admiral’s Cup 2025 continues to strengthen international naval bonds through the shared values of teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.
