New Delhi, November 20: India Post on Wednesday opened its first Gen Z–themed, revamped post office at the IIT Delhi campus, marking a major step in its nationwide effort to modernise postal spaces and connect more meaningfully with young citizens. The initiative aligns with the vision of communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to reimagine Post Offices as vibrant, youth-driven hubs across India’s educational institutions, an official release said.

Designed in collaboration with IIT Delhi students, the transformed Campus Post Office features contemporary aesthetics, Wi-Fi-enabled zones, graffiti and artwork by the institute’s Fine Arts Society, and new smart-service touchpoints. These include QR-based parcel booking and student-friendly Speed Post discounts aimed at making postal services more convenient and accessible for campus life.

The IIT Delhi project is part of a broader national plan to revamp 46 Post Offices in educational campuses by December 15, 2025. A key element of the programme is student participation. India Post is onboarding students as brand ambassadors, co-designers of the revamped spaces, and collaborators in social media outreach. In a first-of-its-kind model, a student-run postal franchise has also been launched at IIT Delhi, offering hands-on exposure to postal operations and fostering entrepreneurship.

Special branded parcel packaging options have been introduced to make student parcel bookings seamless and efficient. India Post acknowledged the contributions of IIT Delhi’s leadership, faculty and student bodies, noting that the initiative reflects their shared creativity and enthusiasm.

Officials said India Post remains committed to building modern, engaging and inclusive postal experiences across India’s academic institutions, ensuring the postal network continues to evolve with the needs and aspirations of today’s youth.
