Varanasi, August 7: In a heartfelt tribute to India’s handloom legacy, IIFL Finance has launched a short documentary showcasing the timeless artistry of Banarasi saree weavers, coinciding with the celebration of National Handloom Day.
Shot across the traditional weaving hubs of Alaipura and Madanpura in Varanasi, the film captures the intricate craftsmanship of the Momin Ansari weaving community. From the delicate shimmer of zari threads to the rhythmic beat of pit looms, the documentary brings to life techniques like kadhwa, tanchoi, and meenakari—each bearing the imprint of generations of artisans.
“This is our tribute to the weavers who quietly carry India’s cultural story forward,” said Manish Mayank, Business Head for Gold Loans at IIFL Finance. “Their work is living heritage, woven with patience, pride, and purpose.”
“Handlooms are more than fabric—they’re stories you can wear,” added Manav Verma, Chief Marketing Officer, IIFL Finance. “Supporting our weavers means preserving a tradition that speaks to India’s heart and history.”
