Hyderabad, September 22: L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (L&TMRHL) has capped a landmark month with three national accolades, including the coveted “PPP Project of the Year” title at the ET Now Infra Focus Summit 2025.
At the summit held in New Delhi on September 19, L&TMRHL Managing Director and CEO KVB Reddy accepted the Editorial Choice Award recognising Hyderabad Metro as India’s most successful public-private partnership in urban transport. The award was presented by Col. Parikshit Mehra, Secretary, Government of Telangana.
The metro operator also emerged as the first in the country to win the CII 26th National Award for Excellence in Energy Management, conferred on September 18, for its advances in sustainability and energy efficiency. Adding to the achievement, L&TMRHL secured the Platinum Award—top honour at the 53rd CII National Kaizen Competition—for its innovative “Ring Main Power Supply System with Intelligent GIS Panel Redistribution,” beating entries from leading corporates across India.
“These awards are a proud moment for L&TMRHL and for the city of Hyderabad,” said Reddy. “Being recognised as the PPP Project of the Year reflects the strength of our partnership model and Hyderabad Metro’s transformative role in redefining urban mobility. The honours in energy efficiency and innovation reaffirm our long-term commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.”
Launched under a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) model, Hyderabad Metro is the world’s largest PPP metro project and continues to serve millions of passengers with modern, sustainable transit solutions. The fresh honours underscore L&TMRHL’s reputation as a trailblazer combining financial prudence, cutting-edge engineering, and eco-friendly practices in India’s metro ecosystem.
