Bhopal, October 31: The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and the Government of Madhya Pradesh have agreed to take new steps to deepen the State’s integration with the national public procurement platform, reaffirming a shared commitment to transparency and efficiency in government buying.
GeM CEO Mihir Kumar on Thursday met with Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Anurag Jain in Bhopal to discuss measures for expanding the state’s use of the GeM platform and aligning local procurement rules with national standards.
The discussions emphasized GeM’s mission to provide a unified, transparent, and inclusive online procurement system for all government entities, including ministries, departments, PSUs, autonomous bodies, and Panchayati Raj institutions.
As part of its national strategy, GeM has intensified engagement with high-performing States and Union Territories. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has also written to Chief Ministers urging alignment of State procurement frameworks with the General Financial Rules (GFR) and GeM General Terms and Conditions (GeM-GTC) to ensure that all public procurement is routed through GeM.
In Madhya Pradesh, more than 86,000 sellers are now registered on GeM. Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) from the State have received orders worth ₹5,523 crore from State buyers, ₹2,030 crore from buyers in other States, and ₹20,298 crore from Central buyers—underscoring GeM’s role in empowering local enterprises and expanding market access.
With GeM’s cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) hitting record levels, the Madhya Pradesh engagement marks another milestone in the platform’s efforts to promote fairness, digital integrity, and inclusivity in public procurement nationwide.
