New Delhi, August 25: The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has achieved a landmark milestone, crossing ₹15 lakh crore in cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) since its launch in 2016. The development reflects the growing trust of buyers and sellers in India’s digital public procurement platform and its role in fostering transparency, inclusivity, and efficiency.

Over the past nine years, GeM has expanded into a robust digital ecosystem connecting government buyers with a diverse seller base that includes micro and small enterprises (MSEs), startups, women-led businesses, SC/ST enterprises, and self-help groups (SHGs).

Commenting on the achievement, Mihir Kumar, CEO of GeM, said: “Crossing the ₹15 lakh crore GMV milestone is a testimony to the trust our stakeholders have placed in GeM. This success belongs to the lakhs of sellers and buyers who have transformed the way public procurement is carried out in India. Our focus will continue to be on deepening inclusivity, simplifying processes, and fostering innovation so that opportunities reach every corner of the country.”

Enabler of Change

Officials noted that each transaction on GeM signifies not just procurement but also efficiency, accountability, and empowerment.
