Hyderabad: Blue Star Limited has launched a new range of 125 room air conditioner models for summer 2026, aiming to capture rising demand across residential and commercial segments.

The new lineup includes inverter, fixed-speed and window ACs. All models meet the latest energy norms set by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency from January 2026.

Focus on Energy Efficiency and Smart Features

The company introduced a premium range called ‘Iconia’ along with several specialised models.

These include super energy-efficient ACs, heavy-duty ACs, hot and cold ACs, and units with anti-virus technology.

The energy-efficient models achieve up to 45% higher efficiency compared to standard 3-star inverter ACs. Some models can deliver cooling even at temperatures as high as 56°C.

Nearly 50 models are WiFi-enabled. They support AI-based cooling, voice commands, and energy monitoring features.

Industry Growth and Market Opportunity

India’s room AC market is expected to grow from around 14 million units to 30 million units by FY30.

Growth is being driven by rising incomes, urbanisation and increasing heat conditions. Smaller cities are emerging as key demand centres.

Manufacturing and Expansion Plans

Blue Star has a production capacity of about 1.4 million units. This can be scaled up to 1.8 million units.

The company operates manufacturing plants in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh. These facilities use automation and digital technologies to improve efficiency and quality.

Commercial Cooling and Distribution Strength

Along with room ACs, the company offers a wide range of commercial refrigeration products. These cater to sectors such as food retail, healthcare and cold chain logistics.

Blue Star has a presence in 900 towns and sells through over 10,000 outlets. It is supported by a service network of more than 2,100 partners.

B Thiagarajan, Managing Director, Blue Star Ltd, said India’s cooling demand is entering a high-growth phase. He noted that nearly 150 million households are expected to be able to afford air conditioners in the coming years.

The company plans to expand its presence by aligning products with changing consumer needs and growing demand across markets.
