New Delhi: AI Impact Casebooks focusing on Energy and Accessibility were released at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, positioning them as long-term knowledge resources to guide policymakers and practitioners in leveraging artificial intelligence for climate action and social inclusion.
Prepared through collaboration among government ministries, international agencies, research institutions and foundations, the publications compile global use cases and best practices on deploying AI for sustainable development.
Energy Compendium: Balancing Compute and Climate
The Energy compendium has been developed in partnership with the International Energy Agency. It highlights AI’s dual role in the energy transition.
While AI-driven compute infrastructure is increasing electricity demand, the technology is also enhancing energy system efficiency. The compendium documents applications in grid optimisation, renewable energy integration, data centre efficiency and emerging solutions that balance rising compute needs with climate commitments.
Speaking at the launch, Abhishek Singh, Director General, NIC and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), said pre-summit consultations had underscored the need to compile AI use cases and global learnings across priority sectors.
He said the compendia would serve as guidebooks for countries, especially in the Global South, where development challenges often mirror India’s. The repository, he added, would help governments and innovators replicate proven solutions and scale impactful interventions.
Siddharth Singh from the World Energy Outlook office at the International Energy Agency noted that while much focus is placed on AI’s energy consumption, equal attention must be given to AI’s potential to improve energy systems and deliver productivity gains.
Accessibility Volume: AI for Inclusion
The Accessibility volume highlights AI-led interventions in assistive devices, early diagnosis, adaptive learning systems, advanced prosthetics and mental health support. It also emphasises ethical deployment, privacy safeguards and culturally contextual innovation to ensure inclusion.
The launch was attended by Piyush Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power; Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy; Praveen Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, ALIMCO; and Abhay Bakre, Mission Director, National Green Hydrogen Mission.
The casebooks aim to strengthen collaborative action on climate resilience and social inclusion, providing an evidence-based foundation for scaling AI solutions across countries.
