Imphal, December 17: NSDC International has signed an agreement with Manipur University to establish a Japanese Language Training Center on the university campus, aimed at equipping youth from Manipur and the wider northeastern region with skills to access employment opportunities in Japan.
The initiative is designed to develop Japanese language proficiency aligned with international standards and Japan’s workforce requirements, supporting career pathways in sectors such as caregiving, hospitality, agriculture and manufacturing. The centre will cater to learners from foundational to advanced proficiency levels, enhancing their employability in overseas markets.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Alok Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of NSDC International, said the partnership represents an important step in expanding global opportunities for youth from the Northeast. “By offering world-class Japanese language training aligned to international standards, we are enabling aspirants to build competitive careers and participate confidently in overseas job markets,” he said.
Officials said interest among youth in the Northeast for international employment opportunities has been steadily rising, particularly in Japan, which is facing growing workforce shortages across multiple sectors. The new centre is expected to act as a bridge between global talent demand and local aspirations, enabling structured and credible pathways for overseas employment.
The initiative reinforces NSDC International’s broader focus on promoting globally recognised skills, facilitating talent mobility and strengthening India’s position as a global talent hub, with a specific emphasis on expanding access to international career opportunities beyond metropolitan regions.
