Sterling Tools Partners with China’s Landworld to Manufacture EV On-Board Chargers and DC/DC Converters in India

By localising production, SGEM aims to reduce import dependence and strengthen the domestic EV supply chain in line with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India vision.
New Delhi, September 16: Sterling Tools Limited (STL), a leading automotive component maker and market leader in Motor Control Units, has announced a strategic partnership with Landworld Technology of China, to locally manufacture EV On-Board Chargers, DC/DC Converters, and Multi-Function Units in India through its subsidiary, Sterling Gtake E-Mobility Limited (SGEM).
The products, critical for the electrification of passenger and commercial vehicles, will be manufactured at SGEM’s EV campus in Faridabad. The partnership is projected to generate around ₹450 crore in revenue by FY30, tapping into a market segment expected to grow to ₹3,000 crore.
By localising production, SGEM aims to reduce import dependence and strengthen the domestic EV supply chain in line with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India vision. The initiative is expected to provide Indian OEMs and suppliers access to advanced technologies while supporting a self-reliant auto ecosystem.
“This partnership creates greater depth in the EV ecosystem in India,” said Anil Aggarwal, Chairman, Sterling Tools Limited. “We are expanding beyond Motor Control Units and Power Train platforms to meet customers’ growing demand for advanced EV technologies.”
EV On-Board Chargers enable vehicles to connect directly to AC power sources for charging, while DC/DC converters step down high-voltage battery output for auxiliary systems. The collaboration with Landworld, which counts global OEMs such as BYD, Geely, Stellantis, and Volkswagen among its clients, brings proven expertise to the Indian market.
Lin Chen, Vice General Manager of Landworld, said the partnership will create “high-quality solutions tailored for India’s EV market while advancing the country’s self-reliance and sustainability goals.”
With this move, Sterling Gtake is expanding its EV power electronics portfolio, reinforcing its ambition to become a comprehensive solutions provider for India’s fast-growing electric mobility sector.
