Hyderabad, September 16: The Dr MCR Human Resource Development Institute of Telangana on Monday inaugurated the 9th International Training Program on Media Management, bringing together 30 delegates from 25 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

The two-week programme, held under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs, will run until September 27 at the Institute’s Jubilee Hills campus.

Welcoming the participants, Vice Chairman & Director General Santhi Kumari described media as the “fourth pillar of democracy” and stressed that journalism is a public trust as much as a profession. She noted that while AI-driven fact-checking, mobile journalism, and social media tools are transforming the industry, they also pose serious challenges of misinformation and ethical dilemmas. “The strength of journalism lies not only in innovation but also in integrity,” she said.

The training programme includes classroom sessions, workshops, and field visits to leading media organisations. Participants will also explore India’s diverse media ecosystem, known for its multilingual reach and regional inclusivity.

Course Director Dr Madhavi Ravulapati, Professor & Head, Centre for Law & Public Administration, said the initiative aims to foster dialogue, exchange best practices, and strengthen global partnerships for a free and responsible press. “It will equip participants with strategies to reinforce media institutions in their home countries, while deepening India’s commitment to global cooperation and capacity building,” she added.
