Justice M. Sundar Appointed Chief Justice of Manipur High Court

New Delhi, September 15: The President of India has appointed Justice M. Sundar, currently serving as a Judge of the Madras High Court, as the new Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur. The appointment will take effect from the date Justice Sundar assumes charge of the office.
This development follows the retirement of Justice Kempaiah Somashekar, who superannuated on September 14, 2025, after serving as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
Justice M. Sundar brings with him extensive judicial experience from his tenure at the Madras High Court. His elevation to the position of Chief Justice is in accordance with the powers vested in the President under the Constitution of India.
The appointment is expected to bring continuity and leadership to the Manipur High Court, which plays a vital role in upholding the rule of law and delivering justice in the northeastern state.
