C-DOT opens sixth Centre of Excellence at IIT BHU for 6G, AI and quantum research
The Varanasi centre will bring together researchers, students and telecom experts to develop indigenous communication technologies and build specialised skills for the sector.
The centre was inaugurated following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions, the Ministry of Communications said in a statement on October 23.
VARANASI: The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has established its sixth Centre of Excellence at IIT (BHU), Varanasi, to undertake research in advanced wireless communications, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and cybersecurity.
The centre was inaugurated following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions, the Ministry of Communications said in a statement on October 23. C-DOT is the telecom research and development organisation under the Department of Telecommunications.
Research will cover 5G Advanced and 6G, large-scale multiple-antenna systems, integrated sensing and communication, AI-native networks and quantum and post-quantum communication technologies.
The partnership aims to connect academic research with practical telecom requirements while developing specialised talent. Faculty, students and C-DOT experts will undertake joint research and exchange knowledge.
C-DOT CEO Rajkumar Upadhyay said the collaboration would support indigenous technology development. IIT (BHU) Director Amit Patra said it would give students and researchers opportunities to address practical telecommunications challenges.
The Varanasi centre joins C-DOT’s existing collaborations with IIT Kanpur, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Roorkee, IIT Hyderabad and IISc Bengaluru through FSID.
