Noida, July 18: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Friday inaugurated the India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Conference 2025 in Noida, where he issued a stirring call to India’s youth to become the architects of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Addressing a packed gathering of students and emerging leaders, Goyal urged them to embrace nation-building as both a duty and a privilege, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Amrit Kaal.

Citing the ‘Panch Pran’ (Five Pledges) articulated by the Prime Minister in his Independence Day address in 2022, the minister described the next 25 years—leading up to India’s 100th year of independence—as a defining era for national transformation.

Five Pledges for a Developed India
Goyal explained that the first pledge is to make India a developed nation. He asked the youth to see themselves as the driving force of this goal. “This transformation cannot happen without your energy, innovation, and dedication,” he said.

The second pledge is to shed the colonial mindset. Goyal noted that centuries of subjugation had left behind limiting beliefs, but today’s generation must reclaim confidence and set global benchmarks for excellence.

The third pledge calls for pride in India’s heritage. “Vikas bhi, virasat bhi,” he said—India must advance economically while preserving its cultural richness. “Our traditions, diversity, and civilizational values are our greatest strengths,” he added.

The fourth pledge emphasizes national unity and integrity, which Goyal described as foundational to India’s success. He praised IIMUN for its work in building pan-India and global youth solidarity, calling unity India’s “greatest strength.”

The fifth and final pledge is the collective resolve of 1.4 billion Indians to contribute to the nation’s progress. “A developed India will only be possible when we work together like a family—with compassion and shared responsibility,” Goyal said.

Youth as Changemakers
Encouraging the participants to become active stakeholders in public life, Goyal recalled Prime Minister Modi’s 2024 call for one lakh youth to join politics and public service. “We need capable and committed changemakers in policymaking—individuals who are driven by compassion, not personal ambition,” he said.

He also acknowledged the often-unseen role of teachers and mentors in shaping young minds. “These are the relationships that truly shape the future of individuals and the nation,” he said.

A Call to Action
Closing his address with an impassioned appeal, Goyal said:

“Be the changemakers, the movers and shakers of tomorrow’s India. With collective resolve, we can overcome every challenge and lead our nation to greater heights.”

The IIMUN platform, known for its focus on youth leadership and civic engagement, served as a fitting stage for this call to action, aligning with the broader national vision of inclusive, values-driven development as India marches toward its centenary of independence.
