Seasoned IRPS Officer Krishna Kumar Thakur Takes Charge as Director (Personnel) at NMDC
Over the course of his career, Thakur has held key HR roles across major railway divisions including Solapur, Bhopal, and Mumbai.
Bringing over 25 years of HR leadership across Indian Railways, BHEL, RITES, and Konkan Railway, Thakur has led large-scale recruitment, policy reforms, and workforce transformation initiatives.

Hyderabad: State-owned mining major NMDC Limited has appointed Krishna Kumar Thakur as Director (Personnel), strengthening its leadership in human resource management and organisational development. He assumed charge on March 19.
A 1998 batch officer of the Indian Railway Personnel Service, Thakur brings more than 25 years of experience across Indian Railways and central public sector enterprises, with a strong track record in HR strategy, industrial relations, and large-scale workforce management.
Over the course of his career, he has held key HR roles across major railway divisions including Solapur, Bhopal, and Mumbai. As Chairman of the Railway Recruitment Cell, Western Railway, he oversaw the recruitment of around 12,000 employees, demonstrating expertise in managing large-scale hiring operations and complex administrative systems.
Thakur has also contributed to international railway operations during his tenure with RITES Limited, where he was associated with a train operations project in Saudi Arabia. He later led HR functions at Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, streamlining policies and improving organisational efficiency.
Prior to joining NMDC, he served as Director (HR) at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, where he introduced key reforms including restructuring HR functions, implementing a uniform incentive scheme, and driving multi-skilling initiatives to enhance workforce capability and retention. He also established standardised guidelines to support faster mobilisation of labour and improve workforce stability.
An alumnus of Tilka Manjhi University, Bhagalpur, Thakur holds a postgraduate degree in literature and a PGDM in human resources from Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
His appointment is expected to further strengthen NMDC’s people-centric ecosystem, aligning employee development with the company’s long-term growth strategy.
