Hyderabad, August 22: Magellanic Cloud Ltd., through its wholly owned subsidiary Provigil Surveillance Limited, has secured a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) to implement Video Surveillance Systems (VSS) across 441 D & E category stations and upgrade existing systems at 43 major stations under Southern Railway. The project, valued at about ₹85 crore, aims to enhance passenger safety with cyber-secure, AI-enabled monitoring infrastructure.

This win adds to recent orders, including a ₹32 crore contract from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for AI-based surveillance on highways and a ₹2.25 crore project from South Central Railway. Together, the projects amount to nearly ₹120 crore, underscoring the company’s growing role in India’s transport security landscape.

Next-Gen Rail Security
The Southern Railway project will deploy high-definition IP CCTV cameras across stations and Railway Protection Force posts, supported by robust networking infrastructure and real-time monitoring. AI-based video analytics and facial recognition systems will strengthen situational awareness, anomaly detection, and rapid response capabilities.

Joseph Sudheer Reddy Thumma, Global CEO & MD of Magellanic Cloud Ltd., said the back-to-back wins highlight the company’s capabilities in delivering “large-scale, AI-powered surveillance solutions that meet the highest standards of safety and cybersecurity.” He added that these projects pave the way for expansion into airports, metros, and smart city projects.

National Context
At the national level, scaling AI-driven video surveillance across more than 7,000 railway stations could transform passenger safety and confidence in rail travel. Meanwhile, NHAI is also exploring AI-powered audit cameras at toll plazas to curb revenue leakages and ensure transparency in toll collection.

With India’s transport networks carrying over 23 million railway passengers daily and 30 lakh vehicles crossing toll plazas, industry observers say Magellanic Cloud’s recent project wins mark a significant step toward building safer, digitally enabled infrastructure across the country.
