New Delhi: India’s defence exports have reached an all-time high of ₹38,424 crore in FY 2025-26, registering a sharp increase of ₹14,802 crore, or 62.66%, over ₹23,622 crore recorded in the previous fiscal.

The milestone reflects a significant expansion in India’s defence manufacturing capabilities, aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to position the country among the world’s leading defence exporters.

The contribution from Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) stood at ₹21,071 crore, accounting for 54.84% of total exports, while the private sector contributed ₹17,353 crore, or 45.16%. DPSUs recorded a remarkable 151% growth over the previous year, while private sector exports grew by 14%, underlining strong participation from both segments.

Highlighting the achievement, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said India is steadily moving towards becoming a global hub for defence manufacturing. In a post on X on Thursday, he noted that the country is scripting an “impressive defence exports success story” driven by sustained policy support and industry momentum.

The export performance has nearly tripled over the past five years, signalling increasing global acceptance of Indian-made defence products. India is now exporting defence equipment to more than 80 countries, while the number of exporters has risen to 145 from 128 in the previous fiscal.

The government’s focus on ease of doing business and export facilitation has played a key role in this growth. The Department of Defence Production has streamlined regulatory processes through a revamped online portal and simplified standard operating procedures for export authorisations.

The surge underscores India’s growing integration into global defence supply chains, both as a supplier of complete systems and critical subsystems.
