Greenko-Backed AMI Paradigm to Acquire L&T Tech Services’ Smartworld Portfolio for Sovereign AI Push
Sridhar Gadhi, Founder, ParadigmIT, said the acquisition will help build domain-specific AI models and sovereign architectures designed for government and enterprise use.

Mumbai: AMI Paradigm Solutions Pvt Ltd (AMIPS), backed by the founders of Greenko Group, has signed a binding agreement to acquire the Smart World and Communication (SWC) business of L&T Technology Services, marking a major step towards building sovereign AI capabilities in India.

The acquisition is aimed at strengthening AMIPS’s ability to deliver AI-driven solutions for public systems, critical infrastructure and governance platforms.

The Smartworld portfolio brings capabilities in digital infrastructure, communications and smart systems across India and global markets. These are expected to complement AMIPS’s strategy of building a vertically integrated AI ecosystem.

Building an End-to-End AI Stack

AMIPS is positioning itself as a full-stack AI infrastructure player. Its platform integrates clean energy, data centres, high-performance computing, software and applications into a unified system.

The company is developing an AI value chain that converts clean energy into “compute tokens,” enabling scalable and cost-efficient AI deployment for enterprises and governments.

₹25 Billion AI Infrastructure Bet

As part of its long-term vision, the group is investing $25 billion to build a 1 GW high-performance computing hub in Uttar Pradesh. The first phase of 250 MW is already underway on land allocated by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority.

This infrastructure is expected to power large-scale AI workloads, including governance systems, public safety, defence and intelligent infrastructure applications.

Sovereign AI Market Opportunity

The global market for AI in sovereign services is currently estimated at around $25 billion and is projected to grow to nearly $100 billion by the early 2030s, driven by government adoption of AI for automation, security and policy decision-making.

AMIPS is targeting this fast-growing segment by combining energy, compute and AI applications into a single integrated offering.

Strategic Shift for L&T Tech Services

Amit Chadha, chief executive officer and managing director, L&T Technology Services, said the divestment aligns with the company’s strategy to focus on engineering, software and digital manufacturing segments.

He added that the transaction will create long-term value while enabling the Smartworld business to scale within an AI-focused platform.

AI for Governance and Public Systems

Sridhar Gadhi, Founder, ParadigmIT, said the acquisition will help build domain-specific AI models and sovereign architectures designed for government and enterprise use.

He noted that AI is becoming the core operating layer for both governance and industry, and the goal is to deliver efficient, outcome-driven AI platforms.

The transaction is expected to close by July 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions.

The deal signals a broader shift in India’s AI landscape, where companies are moving beyond software to build integrated ecosystems combining energy, infrastructure and intelligence.

With governments increasingly adopting AI for public services and decision-making, sovereign AI platforms are emerging as a critical strategic frontier.
