Government to Release 78-Day Productivity Linked Bonus for Over 10.9 Lakh Railway Employees
The maximum payable bonus for each eligible employee has been fixed at ₹17,951.
New Delhi, September 24, 2025 – The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the payment of a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ wages for railway employees, amounting to a total outlay of ₹1,865.68 crore. The decision will benefit 10,91,146 non-gazetted employees across the Indian Railways.
As in previous years, the PLB will be disbursed ahead of the Durga Puja and Dussehra festivals, providing timely financial support to employees and their families. The maximum payable bonus for each eligible employee has been fixed at ₹17,951.
The bonus covers a wide spectrum of railway staff, including track maintainers, loco pilots, train managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, helpers, pointsmen, ministerial staff, and other Group ‘C’ employees.
Officials noted that the payment of PLB serves as a performance-linked incentive, motivating railway personnel to enhance efficiency and service delivery. The decision follows the Railways’ strong performance in 2024–25, when it achieved a record freight loading of 1,614.90 million tonnes and carried nearly 7.3 billion passengers.
