Pune, December 29: Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, will inaugurate the 58th Pre-Retirement Counselling (PRC) workshop for central government employees on December 29 in Pune. He will also inaugurate exhibitions by pension disbursing banks and address pensioners’ and bankers’ awareness programmes being organised alongside the workshop.

The programme is being organised by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve the ease of living for pensioners and family pensioners through policy reforms and digitisation of pension-related processes.

Focus on smooth transition to retirement

The workshop is aimed at central government employees due to retire within the next 12 months. Around 350 officers currently posted across Maharashtra are expected to participate.

Participants will be sensitised on key aspects of retirement planning and benefits, including retirement entitlements, CGHS facilities, investment options, family pension provisions, and grievance redress mechanisms. Sessions will also cover digital platforms such as the BHAVISHYA portal, Integrated Pensioners Portal, CPENGRAMS, ANUBHAV, and the digital life certificate system, enabling retirees to navigate post-retirement processes smoothly.

Pensioners’ and bankers’ awareness programmes

In addition to the PRC workshop, DoPPW will conduct a Pensioners’ Awareness Programme for retired officials and the 11th Bankers’ Awareness Programme for pension disbursing banks. These sessions are designed to familiarise retirees and banking officials with applicable rules, procedures, and best practices related to pension disbursement and services.

Bank exhibitions and on-site services

An exhibition by pension disbursing banks will be set up during the workshop, with multiple banks participating. Pension-related banking services will be made available on-site, including guidance on opening pension accounts and investment of pension corpus in schemes suited to retirees’ needs.

The initiative underscores the government’s emphasis on proactive engagement, digital enablement, and coordinated service delivery to ensure a seamless transition from service to retirement for central government employees.
