Apollo Hospitals Marks 42 Years, Touching 200 Million Lives and Pioneering Healthcare Innovations

Chairman Dr Prathap C. Reddy described Apollo’s journey as “not just the birth of a hospital, but the birth of a movement.”
Hyderabad, September 18: Apollo Hospitals celebrated its 42nd anniversary with an extraordinary track record of having touched over 200 million lives across 185 nations and more than 19,000 pincodes in India. Since opening India’s first corporate hospital in 1983, Apollo has emerged as a global leader in healthcare, performing over 5.1 million surgeries, 27,000 organ transplants, and 22,000 robotic surgeries to date.
Chairman Dr Prathap C. Reddy described Apollo’s journey as “not just the birth of a hospital, but the birth of a movement.” He said the group has played a defining role in reversing the earlier trend of patients seeking treatment abroad, positioning India as a global destination for trusted medical care.
Executive Vice Chairperson Dr Preetha Reddy emphasised Apollo’s role in building human capital, having trained over 11 lakh healthcare professionals. “When we invest in people, we invest in the dignity, resilience, and future of our nation,” she said.
Managing Director Dr Suneeta Reddy noted that Apollo’s growth has been “purposeful, with the patient at the core,” highlighting the need for healthcare to be the strongest foundation of India’s $5 trillion economic vision.
Joint Managing Director Dr Sangita Reddy underlined Apollo’s future focus: “The healthcare of tomorrow will be borderless, personalised, and powered by exponential technologies. Imagine a world where every Indian has a digital health twin — that is the future we are building”.
Apollo has consistently led with medical firsts, including South Asia’s first Proton Cancer Centre, India’s first AI-Precision Oncology Centre, and the region’s first CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery system. Its digital health platform Apollo 24|7 has served over 40 million Indians with teleconsultations, diagnostics, and pharmacy access, while its community outreach through Apollo Foundation has touched 1.9 million vulnerable lives.
As Apollo Hospitals celebrates four decades of innovation and impact, its leaders reaffirmed their mission to make healthcare a right for every Indian — combining clinical excellence, technology, and compassion to build healthier societies worldwide.
