GURUGRAM, July 10:
In a shocking incident, 25-year-old state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was allegedly shot dead by her father at their residence in Sector 57, Gurugram, on Thursday morning. The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 am on the first floor of the family’s home.
According to preliminary reports, three bullets were fired consecutively at Radhika by her father. She was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
“We received information from the hospital about a woman with three bullet wounds who had died. After visiting the scene and speaking with family members, it was confirmed that her father had fired the shots,” said the officer in charge of Sector 56 police station.
Radhika was a promising tennis player with a notable career. According to TennisKhelo.com, she had an International Tennis Federation (ITF) doubles ranking of 113, and was previously ranked within the top 200 globally in doubles. She was born on March 23, 2000.
Police are currently investigating the motive behind the shooting and have not yet confirmed if the father has been taken into custody.
In another shocking case from Rajendra Park, Gurugram, a 30-year-old man named Ketan allegedly strangled his wife Jyoti, 27, following a domestic dispute. Police said the man surrendered at the Anand Garden police post around 6 pm on Sunday and confessed to the crime.
Ketan, who works at Jewar Airport’s cargo department, had been married to Jyoti for six years. They have two children.
Police have taken custody of the body and initiated further investigation.
