The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Tuesday arrested Manish Kumar, partner and authorized representative of Arvind Pharma Distributors in Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, for distributing counterfeit anti-epileptic medication.
The arrest came after DCA officials seized fake ‘Levipil 500’ tablets during a raid on July 4 at the distributor’s premises in SBI Staff Colony, Gandhinagar. The tablets were falsely labelled as products of Sun Pharma Laboratories Limited. Upon analysis and comparison with authentic samples, Sun Pharma confirmed the seized tablets were counterfeit.
Manish Kumar was presented before the X Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Court in Secunderabad, which remanded him to judicial custody until July 23. He is currently being held at Chanchalguda Jail.
