The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 3 Sees Drop in Viewership Post Salman Khan Episode; Ranbir Kapoor Still Holds Record

The Great Indian Kapil Show, hosted by Kapil Sharma, returned to Netflix with its third season and opened on a strong note, featuring Salman Khan as the first guest to promote his film Sikandar. The episode propelled the show to the 7th spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English Shows list, registering 1.6 million views and 1.9 million viewing hours. However, despite the powerful start, viewership has steadily declined with subsequent episodes.

The premiere episode of Season 3 marked an improvement over Season 2’s opener with Alia Bhatt, which drew 1.2 million views and 1.4 million viewing hours. Yet, it fell short of Season 1’s opening featuring Ranbir Kapoor, which remains the most-watched episode with 2.4 million views.

The second episode of Season 3, which welcomed the cast of Metro In Dino, brought in a combined 2 million views and 4.5 million hours watched — but those figures include data from both the first and second episodes. The trend continued downward in the third week, where the episode featuring cricketers Gautam Gambhir, Rishabh Pant, and Yuzvendra Chahal drew only 1.2 million cumulative views and 3.7 million viewing hours.

Despite the gradual drop in viewership, The Great Indian Kapil Show continues to be a go-to platform for celebrity promotions and remains the only Indian show currently ranked in Netflix’s Global Top 10.

The show follows a similar format to The Kapil Sharma Show that aired on television, blending comedy with celebrity interviews. Netflix’s adaptation began streaming in 2024, and each season has featured 13 episodes so far.

The upcoming episode of Season 3 will feature a star-studded panel of Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, Pratik Gandhi, and Jitendra Kumar, promising a fresh mix of talent and humor for viewers.
